The Lamar County County Department of Corrections, through the Sheriff of Lamar County County, operates the Lamar County Jail in Vernon, Vernon, Alabama. Lamar County Jail is one of the largest single-site county correctional facilities in the United States, holding up to 7,000 inmates daily and admitting up 85,000 pre-trial detainees each year.
