The Lea County County Department of Corrections, through the Sheriff of Lea County County, operates the Lea County Detention Center in Lovington, Lovington, New Mexico. Lea County Detention Center is one of the largest single-site county correctional facilities in the United States, holding up to 9,000 inmates daily and admitting up 95,000 pre-trial detainees each year.
